Independence Day in Comoros is celebrated every year on July 6. This national holiday is extremely significant as it commemorates the day when this country gained its independence from France in 1975. Prior to this, Comoros had been under French colonial rule for almost 100 years with numerous attempts for freedom being subdued.

The day is marked by high-spirit celebrations all across the nation. Various public and private events are held, including a grand parade featuring the Comorian military, traditional dancers, and musical performances. Apart from the festivities on land, a naval parade is also conducted in the Indian Ocean, showcasing the prowess and capability of the Comorian Armed Forces. Individuals from all walks of life come together on this day to celebrate and express their national pride.

In addition to the extravagant shows and parades, the day is also marked by more solemn ceremonies such as laying wreaths at memorials throughout the country. These acts pay homage to the heroes who struggled and fought for the country's independence, making it a day of not just celebration but also of reminiscence and respect. Moreover, with all the festive decorations, national music, and traditional foods, the country's unique culture and rich history are highlighted, adding color and excitement to the celebrations.
