The celebration embodies a strong sense of reverence and devotion. It is a day of merit-making wherein Buddhists visit the temples to listen to sermons, make merit, and partake in the traditional 'Vien Tien' ritual. This is where they circumambulate around a temple’s ordination hall three times, each time holding candles, incense sticks, and lotus flowers to mark respectively the Buddha's wisdom, purity, and freedom from all forms of evil.
