Republic Day in India is celebrated every year on 26th of January to honor the Constitution of India as it came into force on the same day in the year 1950. It had replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. This special day is a national holiday in India and is of great significance in the history of India's struggle for freedom.

The main Republic Day celebration is organized in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath where a grand procession is held in the presence of the President of India. It includes various traditional dance troupes and school children who perform and pay respect to the rich heritage and culture of India. It also includes the grand military parade, the prime attraction of the day's celebration, displaying India's defense capability and its state-of-the-art weaponry.

Republic Day is not only about the grand parade or performances, but it is also a day to remember and appreciate our rights and duties as the citizens of the country. It's a day to remember and honor the supreme sacrifice of great leaders who fought for our freedom and the functioning of our democracy. The day ends with the beating retreat ceremony on the evening of January 29, marking a tradition dating back to the era when troops disengaged from battle at sunset.
